Bathroom flooring fails for one of two reasons, and neither of them is the material. It fails because the substrate underneath was not flat or not dry, or because the transition at the shower and the toilet flange was detailed badly. Everything we do on a floor is aimed at those two things. Around Loma Linda we see both slab-on-grade and raised subfloor construction, sometimes in the same neighborhood, and they call for different preparation. On slab, the question is flatness and moisture. On a raised floor, it is deflection, because a floor that moves will crack a tile joint no matter how good the tile is. We check which one you have and what condition it is in before recommending a material. Tile remains the right answer in most bathrooms, and the cost is driven more by size, pattern and substrate than by the tile itself. Large-format tile needs a flatter floor than mosaic does and takes longer to set. Rigid core waterproof plank is a legitimate option in a hall bathroom or a powder room where a fully tiled wet floor is not necessary, and it goes down faster.
We quote the preparation separately from the finish so you can see what you are paying for. That means the leveling, the moisture mitigation if the slab needs it, the underlayment, and then the tile or plank as its own line. Floors we install in a bathroom get the same waterproofing treatment at the shower transition and around the flange as the shower itself. If the existing floor is sound and only the surface is tired, we will tell you that too.

Tile size, pattern and the substrate underneath drive labor more than material.
Flatness and moisture control decide whether the finished floor cracks or lifts.
Where tile is not right, rigid core plank handles a bathroom well.
Proudly serving Loma Linda, Calimesa, Grand Terrace, Colton, Highland and Redlands for years.
Ten services, from a single tub-to-shower conversion through a full bathroom rebuild, plus the kitchen and surface work the same crew handles. A tub swap in an existing footprint and a remodel that relocates the drain sit at opposite ends of that list. Start with the one closest to your project.

Our service area covers Loma Linda plus Calimesa, Grand Terrace, Colton, Highland and Redlands. Those six cities sit inside a twenty minute drive of each other and share almost nothing administratively. The building department, the water provider, and any historic review all change at the city line, and each one moves the schedule.
Frequently Asked Questions
Bathroom Remodeling can be complex, and we’re here to provide answers to common questions. Here are some frequently asked questions from our clients.
There is no single price for a bathroom remodel here. Cost follows whether fixtures move, whether the supply and waste lines behind the wall get replaced, how much of the floor comes up, and what the permit scope turns out to be. A refresh inside the existing footprint and a remodel that relocates the drain are not comparable jobs. We price after a walkthrough rather than before.
Ours covers the scope of work room by room, which walls and floors get opened, the fixtures and finishes selected, and the permit and inspection steps the project needs. It also names what we are deliberately leaving alone. That last part is what keeps a quote comparable to another one.
Ask who pulls the permit and which department it goes to, because the answer differs between Loma Linda, Colton, Highland, Redlands, Grand Terrace and Calimesa. Ask what happens if the waste line behind the wall is worse than expected. A contractor who has worked in your city recently will answer both without hesitating.
A great deal, as long as the drain stays where it is. Swapping a tub for a shower, changing the vanity and lighting, replacing the floor, and rebuilding the wet wall are all achievable inside a small footprint. The cost jumps when the layout moves, because that pulls plumbing and inspection into the job.
Schedule follows the permit and inspection sequence, whether fixtures move, and lead times on tile and glass. A single-scope refresh in an existing footprint and a full rebuild that relocates the drain run on very different calendars. We map the sequence for your address before demo so you know where the waiting happens.
Demolition, painting and hardware are reasonable to take on. Anything behind the wall or under the tile is not, because waterproofing failures show up two years later and plumbing changes are inspected. If you plan to do part of it, tell us at the walkthrough and we will scope around it.
The finish material is usually the smaller half. Preparation drives the rest, and that means how flat the slab or subfloor is, whether moisture mitigation is needed, and how much demolition the old floor requires. We price preparation and finish as separate lines so the difference is visible.
Tile takes more labor, needs a flatter substrate, and has cure times built into the schedule. Rigid core plank goes down faster over a tolerant floor. In a full wet room tile is still the right call. In a powder room or a hallway, plank often is.
Sometimes, if the existing surface is well bonded, flat and not adding too much height at the door and the flange. More often the honest answer is that removing it is cheaper than fixing the problems that come from tiling over it. We check the bond and the height before deciding.
Yes, and it usually makes sense to run the same floor through the adjoining hallway rather than stopping at the door with a transition strip. It costs less per square foot once the crew and the preparation are already on site.

We had an original tub in a 1970s house off Barton Road that nobody in the family could step over safely anymore. They converted it to a curbless shower and were straight with us that the subfloor needed attention first rather than pretending it did not. The inspection passed the first time.

Our hall bathroom sat on slab and had never been touched since the house was built. Because we are close enough to San Timoteo Creek that moisture has always been a factor here, they spent real time on the waterproofing detail before any tile went down. The written scope told us exactly which walls were coming open and which were staying shut.

I work shifts at Loma Linda University Health and asked them to replace the flooring through the bathroom and hallway. They talked me out of the more expensive option because the existing surface underneath did not need it. Quiet crew, clean site, and they finished on the day they said they would.
